Ronnie James Dio RIP

Ronnie James Dio has passed away at the age of 67. The singer, who at various times fronted Rainbow and Black Sabbath in addition to his own solo career, had been battling with stomach cancer for some time.  The news was broken by his wife Wendy, who posted the following message on his official website earlier today:

“Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever.”

Dio was and still is the greatest rock/metal singer ever.

Such a great guy as well. He always put on an unforgettable show. A great lyricist as well:
    ‘Lonely is the name,
    maybe life’s a losing game.”

The Gates of Babylon now await the Holy Diver, The Stargazer, who Died Young.
