Sigur Rós headline Iceland Airwaves 2012

Björk did it last year, and now the other big national musical treasure of Iceland, Sigur Rós will headline the Iceland Airways festival which takes place Reykjavík from October 31 – November 4 this year. They will play this, their first hometown show for four years, in the 5500 capacity Laugardalshöll Arena on Sunday 4th and while tickets will be available to the general public, already having an Airwaves 2012 ticket will give a discounted price via an emailed code. Sigur Rós tickets will go on sale May 16 at midday GMT via midi.is while early-bird tickets are available for Airwaves until June 1 through www.icelandairwaves.is with package flight+hotel+festival ticket deals available from many European and American cities.

Sigur Rós’ new album Valtari is released on May 28.
