Next weekend sees the eighth annual Sligo Live festival, running from Wednesday 24th to Monday 29th October and featuring 300 performers playing in a variety of venues – with many of the events free to enter. Headliners Van Morrison and Joan Armatrading are joined by the likes of Wallis Bird, Pokey LaFarge & The South City Three, Bell X1, Fidil, I Draw Slow, Lau, Buille, Mánran, Marit and Rona, Rackhouse Pilfer, Common Tongues, Eoin Glackin, Si Schroeder, The Casanova Wave, Louise Killeen, Liz & Yvonne Kane, Christof, The Scottish connection plus many more. This year’s Festival will also feature ‘Arrival’ a platform for Emerging Artists Showcase All Day Every Day of the Festival, Traditional Sessions, Fiddler of Dooney Competition, French Food Markets, and climaxes with the World Air Fiddle Championships.

In addition, The Model will be hosting a Music Industry Day on the Thursday, providing practical, hands on advice in relation to touring. The day will feature panel discussions, hands on workshops and lightning talks with representatives from Festivals, Agents and Artists including Peter O’Sullivan, Word of Mouth Agency, Steve Reddy, First Music Contact – FMC Tour, Music from Ireland, HWCH, Dan Hegarty, 2FM and Eurosonic, IMRO and many more.
The ticket price of €15.00 includes entrance to the event and the dinner afterwards.
