State vs Loudmouth Collective free gig this Friday

Having taken a small break in January, State returns to live action this week with the latest in our series of Vs… shows. Joining us on Friday Feb 17th are the Loud Mouth collective, a bunch of like minded musicians, producers, DJ’s, vocalists, artists, designers, photographers and film makers. Musically LM crosses several genres including hip-hop, electronica, techno, (post) dubstep, ambient and experimental music. Join the Facebook event here.

Headlining are Mick. E Rawk, who will be launching their new free download Mick’s Tape. A side project by Leigh C (Exxon Valdez, The Gruesome Twosome, Yo Han Garfunkel & The Caribou Kid) and C.F.Meister (Exxon Valdez, Yo Han Garfunkel & The Caribou Kid, Speech Impediment), the project came together when the pair heard the Death Grips Exmilitary release and were inspired to make a mixtape in the same vain.

Support comes from The Notas, who you will probably be aware of from our Faces of 2012 feature last month. A six piece from Skerries, we reckon they are one of the most genuinely exciting prospects for the forthcoming year in Irish music.

Opening the night will be Loud Mouth’s Benny Smiles, a one man band whose eclectic sets include live bass guitar, percussion, vocals, synths and more to span genres from post-rock to “electropica”. In particular, this track has been causing quite a stir recently.

The gig takes place as ever at the Mercantile on Dame Street and is free in. Doors are at 9pm and you’ll not only get three live acts for your (no) money. but also the Loud Mouth crew on the decks till late.
