State vs Love Music Hate Racism feat Daithí, Lemonada, Elaine Mai & Robb Murphy

Seeing as this weekend is a bank holiday bash we thought that we should do something a little special. As a result we’ve teamed up with our friends at Love Music Hate Racism Ireland to host a stage as part of their Send Racism To Jail event on Friday March 16th. It will kick off a countrywide campaign using music events and a postcard campaign to gather signatures and ask the Minister for Justice Alan Shatter to bring in legislation which makes racism an aggravating factor in sentencing. Most other countries in the EU would have legislation which covers racist crime; however Ireland only has the Incitement to Hatred Act which has rarely been used.

Taking place in Sweeney’s and The Mezz, State’s Mercantile stage will feature three of our Faces of 2012 – Daithí , Lemonada and Elaine Mai as well as Belfast’s Robb Murphy and his eight piece band. It starts at 9pm and is free in as ever, although a donation to the cause would be encouraged.

You can also donate via mobile – Text ‘iDonate Music’ to 57977. Texts cost €2.50 with LMHR and The Integration Centre receiving €1.75. Texts allowed from o2, Vodafone, and Meteor. Three users are not supported. Helpline: 01 6453070
