The Electric Lounge closed down by Gardaí

Only recently opened in the basement of the old Shebeen Chic, Dublin venue Electric Lounge has been closed down over a licensing dispute.

A statement from the organisers reads:

Last night, at approximately 10pm we were closed down without warning by the Gardaí during a gig. This was due to a licensing issue that we had no prior knowledge of. We had no reason to assume that we were acting outside of any licensing laws and at this point have still been given no details as to why our venue is now defunct.

We would like to thank everybody who has made the last couple of months a wonderful experience for us, particularly to the artists and those of you who came to support them.

All future events in the venue are cancelled, we cannot apologise enough for this.

Needless to say, this has come as a huge shock to us, as we’re sure it has to you, especially if you have any bookings made with us. Every attempt has been made to contact the holders of all bookings, please check your emails.

Thank you.
