More about the Mae Shi from their press release:

Formed in 2002, LA experimental indie-punk rockers, The Mae Shi are a high energy act whose music is crammed with busted electronics, frantic drums, crazy-ass boogie guitar, distorted caveman bass and throat-destroying vocals. Citing their influences as Deerhoof, The Minutemen and Melt-Banana and lauded by the legendary Henry Rollins, The Mae Shi, have been described as being like a bunch of ADD kids watching Sesame Street tapes on fast forward.

As well as releasing an abundance of music, performing live is something that The Mae Shi like to put their extreme masses of energy into. They have taken to the stage alongside the likes of Deerhoof, Xiu Xiu, Best Fwends, Wrangler Brutes and Mika Miko and in 2003 they embarked upon an epic 32 shows in 30 days -Celebration’ tour, which they followed up in 2005 with their -Victory Lap’ 43 shows in 42 days tour. Amazingly, earlier this year, they performed eighteen triumphant shows at the SXSW festival in Texas.

  • saw them at the soundtrack festival in Crawdaddy. was blown away by them , in and out of the crowd and then a big sheet throw over the crowd and held up like a tent while the singers came under it and sang , live show is full of energy and really enjoyable.
