The Swell Season Live at Vicar Street

Singer-songwriter duo The Swell Season aka Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova, they may have won some Hollywood award last year, have just released their second album ‘Strict Joy’ on The Frames’ record label Plateau (thanks Niamh). The Frames frontman and Czech ingénue have also released a new single Low Rising.

“[The album] was co-produced by Hansard and Peter Katis (The National, Interpol), and recorded mostly at Katis’ Tarquin Studios in Bridgeport, Connecticut. In addition to Hansard and Irglova, the album features Frames members Colm Mac Con Iomaire (violin), Joe Doyle (bass), Rob Bochnik (guitar) and Graham Hopkins (drums) plus guitarist Javier Mas (Leonard Cohen), pianist Thomas Bartlett (Doveman), percussionist Chad Taylor (Chicago Underground Duo), horn players Steven Bernstein and Clark Gayton from Levon Helm’s band, amongst other guests.”

    Just a little fyi, their label Plateau is actually different from the one in Nashville. Its the name of the label the frames set up around 2001 to release For The Birds and has been their label, at least in Ireland, ever since, with Anti covering their releases in America.
