The White Stripes documentary showing at the IFI

IFI Stranger Than Fiction will screen the Irish premiere of The White Stripes Under Great White Northern Lights on March 11th.

The documentary style film follows The White Stripes as they toured around every province and territory in Canada in the summer of 2007, finishing with their 10th anniversary show in Nova Scotia.

“This beautifully shot film follows them on that journey as they play advertised concerts as well as impromptu side-show gigs in venues as diverse as buses and bowling alleys. Promo director Emmett Malloy captures not only the band’s incredible performances but many intimate, candid moments between Jack and Meg, providing the audience with new insights and a greater appreciation of this remarkable band.”

Tickets are available from the IFI Box Office in person, on 01 679 3477, or online at

Stranger Than Fiction is the IFI’s documentary strand that presents monthly screenings of the best new factual filmmaking from around the world and presents a hugely successful annual Stranger Than Fiction Film Festival which will take place on 15th-18th April 2010.
