Throwing Muses celebrate 25th Anniversary

Kristin Hersh may not have been too much of a stranger to these shores but it’s a long time since she’s been here with Throwing Muses. That is set to be rectified in November, when the band bring their 25th Anniversary tour to the Academy in Dublin. Tickets for the show on 10th priced €24.90 inclusive of booking fee go on sale Wednesday August 17th from Ticketmaster outlets nationwide and Ticketmaster.ie.

To mark the 25th anniversary of Throwing Muses debut album release on September 5th 2011, 4AD are issuing the first ever compilation of the bands work, simply entitled Anthology. Compiled by the band, the 21 track selection eschews most of the singles in favour of personal favourites, and enjoys a non-chronological sequence which makes for interesting juxtapositions and encourages a reassessment of the music. The initial, limited release comes in a hardback book with a bonus 22 track CD of B-sides and rarities.

  • Hey, where did you get that picture? I took it (in Wellington, 12 January 2009) and I’d be curious to hear about how you found it.

Hi Franck, it came from here via google images http://wildvanilla.ning.com/photo/throwing-muses-in-wellington

  • Oh, I see. I have not problem with you using it though, I should have made that clear. It’s just that I never realized the content on Wild Vanilla was public, so I was a bit puzzled. Thanks for the reply 🙂
