Both of Dublin’s Tower Records branches will host Tower Live in celebration of this year’s International Record Store Day. The Wicklow St and O’Connell St stores will be open from 9am to 7pm on Saturday, 20th April selling limited edition special releases by revered artists, and there will also be acoustic performances throughout the day at the Wicklow St store to mark the occasion.
Tower Live will be also be held from 1pm to 9pm at Madison, next door to Tower’s Wicklow St store, featuring performances from the #1’s, Owensie, Gyspy Rebel Rabble, the Urges, the Hot Sprockets, the Eskies, Sweet Jane, Ghost Estates, Twilight Sad and more.
Tower Live at the Madison is for all ages and free to attend; fans under the age of 18 will be given a wristband signifying as such and alcohol will be available at the bar. However, underage fans will have to leave the venue by 6pm.
Exclusive Record Store Day releases on order and expected to be lining the racks include Nick Cave‘s Animal X 7”, the Band‘s The Last Waltz Triple LP, Kate Bush‘s Running Up That Hill 10” Picture Disc, the White Stripes‘ Elephant Double Colour LP, Elliott Smith‘s Alternate Versions from Either/Or 7” Vinyl Single, Notorious BIG‘s Ready to Die Double Gold LP, James Blake‘s Retrograde/Overgrown Double A Side 12” and many more.
Today FM’s Paul McLoone will be giving one Tower Records fan the chance to saunter around Tower Records, Wicklow St all alone for 30 minutes of unhindered shopping on Record Store Day morning. McLoone will also be giving away €25 vouchers on his show next week, so be sure to tune in at 9pm to midnight from Monday to Thursday next week to be in with a chance of winning.
