Two Door Cinema Club win the Choice Music Prize

It was a surprise for many in attendance (as the Choice often proves to be) but Two Door Cinema Club won the Album Of The Year 2010 in this year’s Choice Music Prize.

“”This is amazing, we have never won anything ever,” said the band at receiving their prize.

The three members then explained they had decided prior to the event to donate their €10,000 prize for their album Tourist History to charity.

The cheque for €10,000 was provided by Irish Music Rights Organisation (IMRO), the Irish Recorded Music Association (IRMA) and the performers received a specially-commissioned award, courtesy of the Recorded Artists And Performers Ltd (RAAP).

10 albums were nominated and our own Phil Udell was involved in the final decision on the night, at the same time that Halves, The Cast Of Cheers, Villagers and James Vincent McMorrow amongst others impressed at the live event.
