Video: The Last Shadow Puppets – The Age of the Understatement

The Last Shadow Puppets

Alex Turner (Arctic Monkeys) and Miles Kane (The Rascals) team up with Owen Pallett (aka Final Fantasy) for a slice of ambitious galloping pop.

The first glimpse at the talented young Monkeys singer new project – The Last Shadow Puppets has popped online this week. The video for the title track of the album – The Age of the Understatement is all Ennio Morricone strings and dramatic instrumentation paired with the assured vocal delivery double team of Turner and Kane. The video is as grandiose as the track itself: snow landscapes, military tanks, army backing singers, skate rinks and ecclesiastical interiors.

It sets an promising precedent for the album which is due out on 21st of April. It was recorded Black Box studios near Nantes, France in two weeks during the summer of 2007, with producer James Ford (of Simian Moble Disco). The band then asked Owen Pallett to arrange and conduct the orchestration of the tracks, which were recorded by the 22 piece London Metropolitan Orchestra at British Grove studios in London over Christmas.
