Having recently announced their initial lineup, Derry’s Music City 2016 have revealed double Ivor Novello Award winner and Mercury Music Prize nominee, Villagers as the marquee act for this year’s incarnation of the city festival. Conor O’Brien and co. will join the likes of SOAK, The Strypes, Girls Names, Saint Sister, Overhead the Albatross, David Kitt, Malojian, Bitch Falcon, and many more, as they transform the Walled City into a multi-venue musical experience for all.
Villagers will play at the opening night concert at The Glassworks on Monday July 4th, a former 19th Century church that will also host concerts by Mercury Music Prize Nominee and Choice Music Prize winner, SOAK supported by Saint Sister on Friday July 8th and American trad outfit, The Willis Clan, on Saturday July 9th.
Cultùrlann Ui Chanàin will be the venue for Belfast’s explosive Girls Names on Thursday July 7th while The Strypes will headline a mammoth gig in the city’s historic Guildhall on Saturday July 9th alongside exmagician, Wood Burning Savages and The Bonnivilles.
Music City will take place from will take place from July 4th – 10th.
