“When he finally does return, it may be in a different guise altogether….”. So we said when we reviewed Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band in Kilkenny back in the summer. It turns out we partly right. Although he has returned far sooner than we could have predicted, Springsteen’s new album High Hopes – due in January – will see a slight change of personnel. Most notable is the appearance of Rage Against The Machine’s Tom Morello, who joined Springsteen on tour in Australia and became, as the singer says, “my muse, pushing the rest of this project to another level.” Clarence Clemons, who passed away in 2011, and Danny Federici, who passed away in 2008, also appear on several songs of what Springsteen calls “some of our best unreleased material from the past decade.” If the title track is anything to go by, we literally cannot wait.
