Watch James Vincent McMorrow’s Tiny Desk Concert

Earlier this year James Vincent McMorrow recorded a session for NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert series in what appears to much balmier climes than what we are presented with in Dublin this morning.

In a stripped back solo performance, just his guitar and his striking falsetto, McMorrow played tracks off Early In The Morning and other EPs.

James told NPR how he went from a drummer inspired by hardcore punk and hip hop to a soulful alt-folk artist: “I started listening to older music from the ’50s and learning guitar, piano,” he says. “Then I heard a Donny Hathaway song called ‘I Love You More Than You Will Ever Know,’ and it made me want to start singing.”
