Whelan’s Ones To Watch Day Three: 5 to see

It’s the final day of the Whelan’s Ones To Watch festival, and if you haven’t ventured down to Wexford St this is your last chance. Fortunately there’s still plenty on offer and here’s State’s top five:

The Hot Sprockets

A ubiquitous presence on the live scene they may have been in 2012, there’s still no finer purveyors of delta blues rock ‘n’ roll in Ireland.

The Notas

One of our Faces of 2012, The Notas (pictured) have been quiet enough on the recorded front over the past twelve months but are a live act that you miss at your peril.

Little Bear

Representing Derry, the trio bring their twisting rhythms and potent hooks.

Swords

Strangely unsung, the electro trio deserve a wider audience and this might be the place to start.

Trumpets Of Jericho

Fresh from the A Certain Three tour, the Cork based strange folkers return to the capital.

Tickets are €5, including a free pint of Carlsberg.
